The Primary Bedroom of our Golden Hour Project uses tone-on-tone styling to create a serene space. The neutral room layers textures, woods, metals, and textiles to create a sophisticated and welcoming retreat. Take a look!

A Neutral Foundation

We enhanced the airy vibe of the light-filled bedroom with walls painted our favorite white, Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. We paired the white walls with light flooring. We chose the Becki Owens Collection from HEWN floors in the Weathered color. We love this wood-alternative durable flooring. Crafted largely from from stone, the floors have the rich warm beauty of wood but hold up effortlessly to kids, pets, water, and general ware-and-tear.

A Soft Rug

A rug in the bedroom may feel unnecessary, especially if you have carpet. But adding a rug, even as an additional layer over carpet, not only creates a lux feel with a softer step, but also provides an opportunity to  ground the space with a pattern, color, or texture that you love. Here, on top of our Stoneform floors, the plush rug creates a soft first step out of bed.

Layered Lighting

Layered lighting helps illuminate a room but also adds design. We almost always use a statement chandelier or pendant above the bed, and then coordinate it with beautiful bedside table lamps. Here, we love the pairing of a modern black and brass chandelier paired with more traditional artisan white glazed ceramic lamps. The mix of materials and styles adds interest.

Mixed Patterns, Prints  and Textures

From you lighting, to your furniture and textiles, think how the mix of materials work together. We like a blend of warm and cool tones and a mix of patterns and prints. Although the textiles on this bed stay neutral, stitching on the quilt, a mix of shapes in the pillows, and high quality textured European linen all add depth to the space.

Seating to fit the Space

In new builds, the primary bedroom is often large. A bed and night stands alone do not usually fill the space. Adding a pair of chairs or a bench to the base of the bed is useful, adds another layer of design, and fills the space to make the room feel more complete.

Finished with Art

Art adds beauty and sophistication! Think about adding it above the headboard to create a focal point. We also love a piece or two layered together behind the table lamps.
